what is ASTM B111?
ASTM B111 is a standard specification that establishes the requirements for seamless copper and copper-alloy condenser tubes and ferrule stock used in heat exchangers and evaporators. It details the different types of copper alloys covered, such as various types of copper-nickels and aluminum brass, and sets standards for their production and testing, including the use of eddy-current and hydrostatic tests.
GNEE provides ASTM B111 UNS C68700 aluminum brass copper-nickel U-bend tubes, made from an alloy with approximately 76-79% copper, 2.0-3.0% aluminum, 1.0-1.5% nickel, and 0.5-1.0% iron, precision-formed into a U-shaped structure with high thermal conductivity (approximately 100-120 W/(m·K)). The tube diameter ranges from 1/2 inch to 4 inches (DN15-DN100), with wall thicknesses of 1.6-4.8mm.
UNS C68700 U-bend tubes feature a uniform metallic luster with no oxidation defects, and are available with bright annealed (BA) or pickled & passivated surface treatments. They are offered in fixed lengths, multiple lengths, and random lengths (single/double ends), with end types including plain end (PE) and flared end (BE), and are accompanied by material test certificates (MTC), spectrochemical analysis reports, UT/RT non-destructive testing reports, and third-party certification documents.

Applications:
UNS C68700 aluminum brass copper-nickel U-bend tubes are suitable for marine seawater cooling systems, coastal power plant heat exchangers, chemical circulating water pipelines, and high-end architectural decorative fluid conveyance.
Flattening Test
Test Method-Each test specimen shall be inspected per Test Method B968/B968M.
During inspection, the flattened areas of the test-specimen shall be free ofdefects, but blemishes ofa nature that do not interfere with the intended application are acceptable.
Tubes for ferrule stock are not subject to flattening test.
Residual Stress Test
A residual stress test, when specified in the purchase order, is required only for Copper Alloy UNS Nos. C68700 and when not supplied in an annealed temper.
