Manufacturing process of Gnee stainless steel plate

Hot rolling of stainless steel: It uses slab (mainly continuous casting slab) as raw material, and after heating, it is made into strip steel by rough rolling unit and finishing rolling unit. The hot steel strip coming out of the last rolling mill of finishing rolling is cooled to the set temperature by laminar flow, and rolled into steel strip coil by coiler. The cooled steel strip coil is processed into steel plate, flat coil and longitudinally cut steel strip products through different finishing lines (flattening, straightening, cross cutting or longitudinal cutting, inspection, weighing, packaging and marking, etc.) according to different needs of users.
Cold rolling of stainless steel: It is processed and rolled on the basis of hot-rolled stainless steel plate coil. Generally speaking, it is a process of hot rolling → pickling → cold rolling. Although the steel plate will heat up due to rolling during the processing process, it is still called cold rolling. Because the cold rolling is formed by continuous cold deformation of hot rolling, the mechanical properties are relatively poor and the hardness is too high. It must be annealed to restore its mechanical properties. The one without annealing is called hard rolled coil. Hard rolled coil is generally used for products that do not require bending or stretching.

Stainless Steel Sheet Factory

GNEE's stainless steel plate production line has a monthly capacity of 3,500 tons for hot-rolled plates (thickness 6-100mm) and 2,800 tons for cold-rolled plates (thickness 0.3-6.0mm), supporting mainstream grades such as 304, 316L, 321, 310S, and 904L. Utilizing vacuum melting, four-roll reversible rolling, and continuous solution annealing processes, we control thickness tolerance within ±0.05mm and surface roughness Ra≤0.02μm, strictly conforming to ASTM A240, EN 10088-2, and GB/T 3280 international standards.

FAQ

Q:Can you send stainless steel plate samples?

A: Of course, we can send samples to all over the world, our samples are free, but customers need to bear the express cost.

Q: Why is stainless steel plate such a popular manufacturing material?

A: There are many reasons why manufacturers choose GNEE STEEL to purchase stainless steel plates. Stainless steel has excellent corrosion resistance. When combined with other advantages (ease of fabrication, strength-to-weight ratio advantage, aesthetic appearance, easy cleaning ability, impact resistance and heat resistance), stainless steel plate becomes the material of choice for a variety of applications.

Q:What is the difference between 304 and 304L stainless steel plates?

A:  The main difference between these two types of stainless steel plates is the amount of carbon contained in each metal. 304 contains up to 0.08% carbon, while 304 L contains up to 0.03% carbon. The nickel content in stainless steel plates also varies slightly. 304 stainless steel plate can contain up to 10.5% nickel, while 304L can contain up to 12% nitrogen.

Q: Can 304 and 304L steel plates be polished?

A: Yes, 304 and 304L stainless steel plates can be polished to a variety of finishes.

Q: Can 304 and 304L stainless steel plates be heat treated?

A: Heat treating this type of stainless steel will not produce a stronger, more durable product.

Q: Are your stainless steel plates magnetic?

A: Generally speaking, stainless steel plates tend to be less magnetic than "regular" steel, and some grades are non-magnetic. Stainless steel bolts become slightly magnetic when cold worked. Although the "raw material" going into the bolt making machine is non-magnetic, the process of forming the heads and threads can cause the bolts to come out of the machine slightly magnetized, which will be more noticeable on smaller items.

Q: What is the heat resistance of this stainless steel plate?

A: If resistance to water corrosion is important, continuous use of 304 and 304L stainless steel plates is not recommended in the 800-1580°F range. Please consult our pre-sales team for specific applications.

Q: Can I purchase stainless steel plates that meet the requirements of both 304 and 304L stainless steel plates?

A: Yes, it is possible to purchase dual certified stainless steel plates in grades 304 and 304L.

Q: Are stainless steel plates expensive?

A: Stainless steel generally has a higher value than carbon steel fasteners. However, with global production increasing and nickel prices remaining low, A2 stainless steel offers incredible value for money. Nickel is an important component of alloys and has historically been one of the causes of price fluctuations. Global markets determine exchange rates, import duties, transportation costs, alloying element costs, production capacity and supply; all factors that determine stainless steel prices.
