Hastelloy C2000 Weld Neck Flange

Hastelloy C2000 (UNS N06200/EN 2.4819) weld neck flange is a high-performance nickel-chromium-molybdenum-copper alloy flange manufactured in accordance with the ASME B16.5 standard. It features a tensile strength exceeding 690 MPa and a yield strength exceeding 310 MPa. Due to the addition of approximately 1.6% copper, it exhibits exceptional resistance to pitting and stress corrosion cracking in environments involving strong reducing acids (such as hydrofluoric acid and sulfuric acid) as well as mixed acids with strong oxidizing properties.

What Is a Hastelloy C-2000 Weld Neck Flange?

Hastelloy C-2000 weld neck flange (WN flange, WNRF) is a forged nickel-chromium-molybdenum-copper alloy pipe flange manufactured to ASTM B564 / ASME SB564 and dimensioned per ASME B16.5 or B16.47 Series A/B. Its long tapered neck provides a thicker cross-section at the weld joint, distributing stress away from the bore and eliminating turbulence - making it the preferred flange type for high-pressure, high-temperature, and cyclic-loading chemical processing service.

Hastelloy C-2000 Weld Neck Flange Supplier

GNEE supplies Hastelloy C-2000 (UNS N06200) weld neck flanges in sizes ranging from ½″ to 48″ (DN15–DN1200) and pressure ratings from 150# to 2500#. Available with RF, RTJ, and FF facing options, these flanges are manufactured in strict accordance with ASME B16.5, ASME B16.47, EN 1092-1, and DIN standards.

Each flange features 100% heat number traceability and PMI (XRF) verification. Testing protocols include OES chemical analysis, hydrostatic testing, RT/UT non-destructive testing, hardness testing, CMM dimensional inspection, and PT (dye penetrant) testing. We provide EN 10204 3.1/3.2 Material Test Certificates (MTC) and can arrange third-party inspections upon request.

Value-added services include beveling, facing, shot blasting, descaling, and CNC precision machining. Standard orders typically require 3–5 weeks for delivery, while large-diameter or high-pressure flanges take approximately 6–10 weeks. Shipping options include FOB, CIF, and DDP, with departure ports available in Shanghai, Ningbo, or Qingdao.

How does C-2000 differ from C-276 and C-22?

C-2000 is the only grade in the C-series alloys to which copper (1.3%–1.9%) is intentionally added. This characteristic gives it exceptional corrosion resistance in sulfuric acid across a wide range of concentrations. Its chromium (Cr) content (22%–24%) is higher than that of C-276 (14.5%–16.5%) but slightly lower than that of C-22 (20%–22.5%), while its molybdenum (Mo) content (15%–17%) is comparable to that of C-276.

What is the maximum service temperature for C-2000 weld-neck flanges?

Under oxidizing conditions (dry air), the recommended maximum continuous service temperature is 1093°C (2000°F). In reducing or corrosive environments, the practical upper temperature limit is typically 400–500°C (750–930°F), depending on the chemical composition and concentration of the medium. Exceeding this temperature range may result in the precipitation of secondary phases (such as the sigma phase), thereby reducing the material's corrosion resistance.

FAQ

Q: What are the UNS and W.Nr. designations for Hastelloy C-2000?
Hastelloy C-2000 is designated as UNS N06200 (US standard) and W.Nr. 2.4675 (European standard). It is a registered trademark of Haynes International. The "2000" in the name does not indicate a temperature resistance of 2000°C; it is simply a product identifier used to distinguish it from grades such as C-22, C-276, and C-4.

Q: Does C-2000 require post-weld heat treatment?
No. Due to a carbon content of ≤ 0.010%, carbide precipitation in the heat-affected zone (HAZ) is negligible. Corrosion resistance in the as-welded condition is comparable to that of the base metal. Recommended filler materials: ERNiCrMo-3 (C-276 wire) or ERNiCrMo-10 (C-22 wire)-both are suitable. GTAW (TIG) is preferred for critical welds; GMAW may be used for thicker sections.

Q: How does C-2000 perform in sulfuric acid compared to C-276?
In 98% sulfuric acid (H₂SO₄) at 100°C, the corrosion rate of C-2000 is less than 0.05 mm/a, whereas the rate for C-276 under the same conditions is typically 0.15–0.30 mm/a. The addition of copper alters the composition of the passive film, enhancing its stability against attack by sulfate ions. This makes C-2000 the preferred single-alloy choice for sulfuric acid applications across the full concentration range (10%–100%).

Q: What are the typical lead times and minimum order quantities?
Standard sizes (½″ – 12″, pressure classes 150# – 600#): 3–5 weeks from purchase order (PO) confirmation. For large-diameter (24″–48″) or high-pressure rating (1500#–2500#) products: 6–10 weeks. Minimum Order Quantity (MOQ): 1 unit for standard sizes; custom or oversized orders are quoted individually based on specific requirements. Gnee maintains ready stock for common specifications (2″–8″, Class 300# RF).
