The nickel based alloy welding pool is very viscous and has a shallow melting depth. Increasing the welding current cannot significantly improve the fluidity of the metal and increase the melting depth.
Unlike the concave weld bead typically formed by welding carbon steel and stainless steel, the surface of the weld bead of nickel based alloys requires a convex shape to prevent crystallization cracks. The first layer of root weld may exhibit crystal cracking, which can be eliminated by using a small current and more wire filling method.
During the process of tungsten argon arc welding, the entanglement of the filler wire should not be directly immersed in the molten pool. The filler wire should be placed in front of the tungsten electrode and melted while being fed in. The end of the welding wire should always be under argon gas maintenance. When extinguishing the arc, more welding wires should be added to increase the thickness of the weld bead.
