Monel 400 is a nickel-copper alloy that is hardened only by cold working. Monel 400 has a low corrosion rate in flowing seawater and is therefore widely used in marine applications. Monel 400 also has excellent resistance to stress corrosion cracking in most fresh waters. Monel 400 can be used at temperatures up to 1000 ºF. The alloy has excellent mechanical properties at sub-zero temperatures.

Monel 400 alloy contains C-0.11%.Mn-0.99%, Si-0.16%, Cu-32.26%, Ni-65.02%, AI-0.04%, Fe-1.42%, S≤0.001%, P≤0.05%.Monel400 is a high-strength, single-phase, solid solution, and it is one of the most dosed and widely used corrosion-resistant alloys. With excellent comprehensive performance, the alloy is in hydrofluoric acid and fluorine gas medium. It has excellent corrosion resistance, and also has excellent corrosion resistance to hot concentrated lye.
Monel400 hot working easy to mold, temperature within 927~1177, slight deformation under 649 degrees can be, Monel400 alloy is extremely easy to mold. Heat treatment temperature is generally 871~982 degrees, but in order to performance and fine grain, so the solid solution temperature is not too high. Solution annealing is generally selected between 871 ~ 982. Monel400 alloy welding performance is good, different welding methods are different selection of different welding wire, generally choose Monel60 and 190 wire.
