Non-oriented electrical steel is an extremely important Fe-Si soft magnetic alloy with many factors affecting its magnetic properties, among which alloy composition, grain size, and texture component content have the greatest influence. As the grain size of the annealed sheet increases, the magnetic domain size would also increase and hysteresis loss (Ph) decrease, but both eddy current loss (Pe) and the abnormal eddy loss (Pa) considering the magnetic domain structure would increase. Meanwhile, grain size of the optimum magnetic properties would obviously be correlated with composition and cleanliness of the steel.

Non-oriented electrical steel are sheets tailored to produce specific properties and are produced from Fe-Si or Fe-Si-Al alloys. Non Oriented Electrical Steel, in contrast, is a type of electrical steel that lacks the controlled grain orientation found in GOES. During its production, the steel undergoes random crystalline orientation, making it isotropic in magnetic properties. While NOES does not offer the same level of magnetic performance as GOES in a specific direction, it compensates by demonstrating relatively uniform magnetic properties in all directions. This characteristic makes NOES suitable for applications such as electric motors, generators, and small transformers, where magnetic flux changes direction frequently.
