Product Description of 347 STAINLESS COIL
Alloys 347 (S34700) stainless steel are stabilized stainless by the addition of columbium and tantalum
which offer as their main advantage an excellent resistance to intergranular corrosion following exposure to temperatures in the chromium carbide precipitation range from 800 to 1500°F (427 to 816°C).
● Applications
1. Large-size boiler heating equipment, re-heater, steam pipeline, petroleum heat exchanger.
2. Architecture and Chemical process equipment, such as Aircraft, Pressure vessel and some parts which are unable to make heat treatment after processing or assembling.
both 347 stainless steel and 347H stainless steel with grave commitments to endusers abroad, guaranteed material quality and delivery period for all our valued customers.

FAQ:
Q1: What is the key difference between 347 and 304 stainless steel?
347 is stabilized by the addition of niobium (Nb ≥ 10C – 1.0) instead of relying on low carbon content; it offers significantly better resistance to intergranular corrosion than 304 within the sensitization range of 425–870°C, making it suitable for applications where post-weld solution annealing is not performed.
Q2: What are the common standards for 347 coils/sheets?
JIS G4305 (SUS347), ASTM A240 (347), EN 10088-2 (1.4550/X6CrNiNb18-10), and GB/T 4237; exports are typically supplied according to ASTM or EN standards.
Q3: What is the typical chemical composition range for 347 coils?
C ≤ 0.08%, Cr 17.5–19.5%, Ni 9.0–13.0%, Nb ≥ 10 × C – 1.0 (and ≥ 0.60%), Mo ≤ 0.75%, S ≤ 0.030%, P ≤ 0.045%.
Q4: What are the common thickness and width specifications for 347 coils?
Cold-rolled coils: 0.3–6.0 mm; hot-rolled coils: 3.0–12.0 mm; width: 600–2,000 mm (common widths: 1,000/1,219/1,250 mm); coil inner diameter: 508 or 610 mm.
Q5: What is the maximum service temperature for 347?
Up to 900°C (1,650°F) for continuous oxidation service; for pressure-bearing components, the ASME allowable stress limit is approximately 650°C (1,200°F), as creep strength drops significantly above this temperature.
Q6: What surface finishes are available for 347 coils?
Common finishes include 2B (cold-rolled, annealed, and pickled), 2D (dull/matte), BA (bright annealed), No. 4 (brushed), and HL (hairline); 2B is widely used in food and chemical industries, while BA or No. 4 are preferred for decorative applications.
Q7: What are the mechanical properties of 347 coils/sheets in the annealed state?
Tensile strength ≥ 515 MPa, yield strength ≥ 205 MPa, elongation after fracture ≥ 40%, and hardness ≤ 92 HRB; the material exhibits excellent plasticity and performs well in deep drawing and bending operations.
Q8: What are the primary applications for 347 coils/sheets?
Chemical reactors and heat exchangers, automotive exhaust systems (manifolds/catalytic converter housings), boiler superheaters, heat treatment furnace components, and high-temperature parts for papermaking and food processing equipment.
Q9: How do 347 and 321 differ in terms of stabilization effectiveness?
347 is stabilized with niobium (Nb); NbC is more effective at pinning grain boundaries than TiC, resulting in superior resistance to intergranular corrosion in the heat-affected zone (HAZ) after welding. 321 is lower in cost, but titanium (Ti) tends to combine with nitrogen (TiN), leading to slightly lower stabilization efficiency.
Q10: What are the HS code and packaging requirements for exporting 347 coils/sheets?
HS Code: 7219.32 (cold-rolled stainless steel coils). Packaging: Wrapped in VCI anti-rust film, secured on wooden pallets, and strapped with steel bands. Documentation: EN 10204 3.1 Mill Test Certificate (MTC) and OES chemical composition report included.
