Products Description
Material 1.4512 / AISI 409 has poor welding properties. In particular the high temperature range the material is sensitive to embrittlement due to grain growth. The harmful influences can be better controlled when working in the low range, with a welding energy lower than 1kJ/mm. Due to the addition of titanium, hydrogen or nitrogen containing gas should be avoided.

1.4510 1.4112 Stainless Steel Coil
Type 1.4510 spans both of these two areas since it was developed for a particular range of applications in certain industries where it can be used in place of type 1.4301 (304). On some aspects, its properties and performance in service are actually superior to 304 whilst on others it falls between 430 and 304. Notably however, it is also lower cost than 304.
1.4512 (409) stainless steel is a Ferritic steel that offers good mechanical properties and high-temperature corrosion resistance. It contains 11% chromium which is the minimum amount for the formation of the passive surface film which gives stainless steels their corrosion resistance. It combines good elevated temperature corrosion resistance with medium strength, good formability, and overall cost.
