Elevator Bolts are named for elevators because that's the reason they were invented. But elevator bolts can be used in all sorts of different ways that have helped to automate the world and just normally make life a whole lot easier to live. Stainless Steel Elevator Bolts are used in conveyor belts of all types and they're even used to bolt flooring in place in vehicles, especially in recreational vehicles and campers. Fanged Elevator Bolts creates a sharp teeth bite into the surface of wood, rubber belting, and other soft stuff in order to keep the bolt from turning while tightening a nut. It is usually used in tight spaces with moving parts, such as grain elevators and other belting systems, because the smooth, low-profile head offers a flush fit when it is installed. Its length is measured from the top of the head.

How to tighten an elevator bolt:
Gather the necessary tools: You will need a wrench or ratchet/socket set that fits the nut size, and a flat-head screwdriver or pliers to hold the square neck of the bolt in place while tightening.
Access the elevator bolts: Ensure that the system is turned off and locked out/tagged out to prevent accidental activation while you're working. Locate the elevator bolt that needs tightening.
Hold the square neck: Position the flat-head screwdriver or pliers to hold the square neck of the stainless elevator bolts in place.
Tighten the nut: Using the wrench or ratchet/socket set, start tightening the nut clockwise. Make sure the bolt doesn't rotate as you do this; if it does, adjust the screwdriver or pliers to hold it more securely.
Check for proper tightness: Tighten the nut until it is snug against the surface of the material. Do not overtighten, as this can damage the bolt, the material it is securing, or both.
Inspect the bolt: After tightening, visually inspect the bolt to make sure it is sitting flush against the surface of the material and that the square neck is properly seated.
Return the system to service: Once you have successfully tightened the stainless steel elevator bolts, you can unlock and return the system to service.
