310S stainless steel is an austenitic chromium-nickel stainless steel, where the letter S denotes special purpose. Because of the relatively high percentage of chromium and nickel in the steel, respectively 24-26% chromium and 19-22% nickel, so that 310S stainless steel has good resistance to corrosion, acid and alkali resistance, high temperature resistance and strong creep strength, etc., especially oxidation resistance than 309S (06Cr23Ni13) stainless steel is good, can be sustained at high temperatures in continuous operation, and therefore is often used in the manufacture of high-temperature-resistant stovepipe.
