The material has a high electric conductivity as well. The thermal conductivity is at 14.2 at 100 degree Celsius and the melting range is above 1400-1500. All these properties make the 310 material to be highly heat resistant, wear and tear resistant and corrosion resistant depending on the temperature under which it operates. Since furnaces are one of the most heated elements in the industries, the application of 310 pipes in these applications is very appropriate.
The material is machinable but has to be done slowly and heavily. This is because the oxide layer forming outside the material becomes harder. Therefore work hardening is a problem than needs to be handled carefully. The application with furnaces is made easy due to the high weldability of the material.
