The nitrogen content of Type 316LN stainless steel also provides some solid solution hardening, raising its minimum specified yield strength compared to Type 316L stainless steel. Like Types 316 and 316L, the Type 316LN alloy also offers good resistance to general corrosion and pitting/crevice corrosion.

Type 321 Stainless Steel is an austenitic stainless steel. It has many of the same qualities of Type 304, except for a higher level of titanium and carbon. Type 321 offers metal fabricators an outstanding corrosion and oxidation resistance, as well as excellent toughness even down to cryogenic temperatures.

With the addition of molybdenum, grades 316 and 316L stainless steel were developed to offer improved corrosion resistance compared to alloy 304/L. The increased performance of this austenitic chromium-nickel stainless steel makes it better suited for environments rich in salt air and chloride. Additionally, the low carbon content makes the alloy 316/L easy to weld.
