409 ferritic stainless steel is fine in most areas, but intergranular corrosion can occur in the welding heat affected zone in certain industrial applications. The alloy's titanium and niobium content are carefully proportioned to resist susceptibility and intergranular corrosion that can develop in the heat-affected zone of a weld or other thermal exposure of the parent metal. Stable and balanced element ratio, no need for annealing to restore ductility after welding, and good weldability can be obtained. Its formability and toughness will also be enhanced.
321 ss Pipe is an austenitic stainless acid-resistant steel. After titanium is added to the steel, the steel has a higher resistance to intergranular corrosion, but it still cannot overcome the shortcomings of post-weld knife edge corrosion tendency and poor surface quality (polishability). It has good corrosion resistance in some organic acids and inorganic acids at different concentrations and temperatures, especially in oxidizing media.
