What is the difference between 316 stainless steel pipe and 316L?
Both 316 and 316L stainless steel pipes contain 2-3% molybdenum. The core difference lies in the carbon content: the carbon content of 316 stainless steel pipe is ≤0.08%, and the carbon content of 316L stainless steel cold-drawn pipe is controlled to ≤0.03% through ultra-low carbon process. The intergranular corrosion resistance is significantly better than 316, and it is more suitable for strong corrosion scenes that require frequent welding.
316stainless steel tubing has slightly higher strength in non-welded structures due to its slightly higher carbon content, and 316L has stronger corrosion resistance and stability in high temperature or welded parts.
