304 steel must contain more than 18% chromium and more than 8% nickel. 304 stainless steel is a brand of stainless steel produced in accordance with American ASTM standards. It is widely used in the production of equipment and parts that require good comprehensive performance (corrosion resistance and formability).
321 stainless steel is required to contain a trace amount of titanium (Ti) element (according to the ASTM A182-2008 standard, the Ti content should be not less than 5 times the carbon (C) content, but not less than 0.7%. In addition, the carbon of 304 and 321 (C) content is 0.08%), and 304 does not contain titanium (Ti).
347 is a stabilized austenitic chromium steel containing niobium which eliminates carbide precipitation and therefore intergranular corrosion. Alloy 347 is stabilized by the addition of chromium and tantalum and provides higher creep and stress rupture properties than Alloys 304 and 304L, which may also be used in exposures where sensitization and intergranular corrosion are a concern.
