1.4057 QT800 material equivalent

What material is 1.4057 QT800?

1.4057 QT800 is a high-strength, martensitic stainless steel (also known as AISI 431 or X17CrNi16-2) that's heat-treated (Quenched & Tempered to 800 MPa) for excellent toughness, corrosion resistance, and wear properties, making it ideal for demanding parts like pump shafts, bolts, and marine components. The "QT800" indicates it's quenched and tempered to achieve a minimum tensile strength of 800 MPa, combining high strength with good machinability and weldability.

What material is 1.4057 equivalent to?
Material 1.4057 (X17CrNi16-2) is a hardenable martensitic stainless steel, commonly known as AISI/SAE 431, ASTM S43100, and SS2321, offering good strength, impact toughness, and corrosion resistance, especially for marine or oxidizing acid environments, with key equivalents being 431 (USA), X17CrNi16-2 (EN), and 14Kh17N2 (Russia).

1.4057 QT800 heat treatment

The steel is generally easier to machine than "conventional" austenitic steels. The heat treatment condition of 1.4057 is QT 800 and it should be hot formed in the temperature range 1100-800°C. Slow cooling after hot forming.

What is the hardness of 1.4057 QT800 stainless steel?

For 1.4057 (AISI 431) stainless steel in the QT800 condition, the Brinell hardness is typically around 251-299 HB, or up to about 290 HB, with a specified tensile strength of 800-950 MPa, indicating a high-strength, hardened state after quenching and tempering.

What is the difference between 1.4057 and 1.4057 QT800?

The difference between 1.4057 and 1.4057 QT800 is that the latter is a specific heat-treated condition of the 1.4057 steel grade. The 1.4057 is the material designation, while QT800 is the heat treatment process (Quenched and Tempered) that provides specific mechanical properties, namely a minimum tensile strength of 800 MPa.

1.4057 QT800 round bar price per kg
As of December 2025, the price of 1.4057 (UNS S43100/AISI 431) QT800 heat-treated round bar ranges from RMB14.8–36.0 per kg domestically and **$2.20–2.50 per kg** for bulk international orders (FOB), with significant variations based on origin and order volume: domestic standard-grade round bars cost RMB14.8–16.15 per kg for orders ≥500 kg, while German-imported high-precision bright round bars reach RMB24.5–36.0 per kg; internationally, orders ≥25 tons can secure a discounted price of $2.20 per kg, versus $2.50 per kg for minimum orders of 1 ton.
