409 Stainless Steel Exhaust Pipe
Standard: It complies with ASTM A240, EN 10088 and other standards and is commonly used in high-temperature equipment such as automobile exhaust pipes and industrial chimneys.
Features: Low cost and high-temperature oxidation resistance, but its corrosion resistance is weaker than that of austenitic stainless steel (such as 304 and 316L).
Performance characteristics of 409 stainless steel exhaust pipe
(1) High-temperature oxidation resistance
Maximum operating temperature: short-term ≤800°C, long-term ≤650°C, which is better than 304 stainless steel (long-term ≤425°C).
Anti-oxidation mechanism: Cr combines with O to form a dense Cr₂O₃ oxide film to prevent further corrosion.
(2) Corrosion resistance
Basic corrosion resistance: Stable in dry atmosphere and fresh water environment, but not resistant to chloride ions (such as salt water) and acidic media.
Compared with 304: Corrosion resistance is poor, but the cost is only 1/3-1/2 of 304.
(3) Mechanical properties
Tensile strength: ≥450MPa
Yield strength: ≥275MPa
Elongation: ≥20%
Hardness: ≤217HB (annealed state)
