AISI 440 stainless steel heat treatment
AISI 440 stainless steel can be improved through heat treatment processes such as annealing, quenching and tempering. For example, a typical heat treatment process for 440C includes: Annealing: Subcritical annealing in the range of 675-760°C (1250-1400F)
Quenching: Heating to 1010-1065℃ and quenching in air or oil
Tempering: Tempering in the range of 150-370"C to obtain different hardness and mechanical properties

AISI 440 stainless steel is used to manufacture bearing parts working in corrosive environments, high-quality tools (such as medical scalpels, scissors and blades, surgical and dental instruments), molds, springs, cutlery, valves and valve parts, cams, gears, shafts, ball bearings, nozzles and measuring tools, etc.
