Alloy A286 (AMS 5731 / AMS 5732 / AMS 5737 / AMS 5525)
Due to its high strength and excellent fabrication characteristics, A286 is used in a variety of components for aircraft and industrial gas turbines. A286 is also widely used in the offshore oil and gas industry where components are subjected to high levels of heat and pressure.
Alloy A286 bars can be solution treated at the temperatures detailed below, rapidly cooled, then age hardened at 1325F (720C) for 16 hours, then air cooled. The 1800F (980C) solution treatment produces the highest creep rupture strength of the age hardened material, while the 1650F (900C) treatment increases ductility and room temperature strength.
