ASTM A182 F316L Stainless Steel Heat Exchanger Tubesheet
Leave a message
ASTM A182 specifies the requirements for forged or rolled alloy and stainless steel flanges, forged fittings, valves, and valve components intended for high-temperature and high-pressure environments. The material grades covered by this standard, such as F316L, are widely used in the manufacture of forged components for pressure equipment (including tube sheets).
F316L tube sheets are critical pressure-bearing components in heat exchangers and pressure vessels, typically fabricated from thick plates or forging blanks. When forgings are used to manufacture tube sheets, ASTM A182 is one of the most commonly adopted material standards.
The ASTM A182 F316L tube sheets supplied by GNEE are generally produced from forged steel billets through processes including forging, rough machining, heat treatment, and finishing. The forging process must ensure forgeability and minimize internal defects. All F316L forgings must undergo solution heat treatment after final forging and forming. First, the steel is heated to a temperature range of 1040°C to 1150°C (1900°F to 2100°F) and held for sufficient time to fully dissolve carbides, followed by rapid cooling. Solution annealing dissolves chromium carbides and other precipitated phases, restores optimal corrosion resistance, relieves machining stresses, and softens the material for subsequent processing.
