ASTM A213 VS ASTM A269: What are the differences?

ASTM A213‌ standard requires materials to have high strength and creep resistance at high temperatures, and is suitable for applications in high temperature environments.
‌ASTM A269‌ standard requires materials to have good processing performance and general-purpose mechanical properties, and is suitable for various general industrial applications.

Chemical composition and mechanical properties ‌

ASTM A213‌ usually contains higher chromium and nickel content to ensure strength and corrosion resistance at high temperatures. ‌ASTM A269‌ chemical composition and mechanical property requirements are relatively low, and are suitable for general industrial applications.

Application areas

‌ASTM A213‌ is mainly used for high-temperature and high-pressure equipment such as boilers, superheaters and heat exchangers, requiring materials to have good high-temperature strength and creep resistance. ‌ASTM A269‌ is suitable for general-purpose stainless steel pipes, including seamless and welded austenitic stainless steel pipes, which are widely used in chemical, construction, petroleum, boilers and other fields.
