What is SA 249 TP316 material?
ASME SA 249 TP316 refers to stainless steel pipe produced in accordance with ASME SA-249 standards, utilizing Type 316 (UNS S31600) austenitic stainless steel. This material's alloying composition contains a high molybdenum content, resulting in excellent corrosion resistance, particularly pitting and crevice corrosion. It is commonly used in high-pressure equipment such as heat exchangers, boilers, and superheaters. Tube sizes and thicknesses range from 1⁄8 inch (3.2 mm) ID to 12 inch (304.8 mm) OD, with wall thicknesses from 0.015 to 0.320 inch (0.4 to 8.1 mm), inclusive. Other sizes are available.
