ASTM A269 applies to seamless and welded austenitic stainless steel pipes for general use, including corrosion-resistant, high- and low-temperature-resistant pipes.
ASTM A269 pipes typically have an inner diameter of 1/4 inch (6.4 mm) or more and a wall thickness of 0.020 inch (0.51 mm) or more‌ 23. Mechanical property requirements do not apply to pipes with an inner diameter less than 1/8 inch (3.2 mm) or a wall thickness less than 0.015 inch (0.38 mm).
