Corrosion resistance of S31254 stainless steel

S31254 (254SMO®) is a super austenitic stainless steel, known for its excellent corrosion resistance, high strength and ductility. It is suitable for extreme corrosive environments such as marine, chemical, oil and gas industries. It has super corrosion resistance, high strength and toughness, good weldability and high temperature stability.

S31254 (254SMO®)

S31254 is a duplex stainless steel that contains a high percentage of chromium, nickel and added molybdenum. This makes the material excellent in corrosion resistance, especially in marine and industrial environments.
S31254 stainless steel meets many standards, including ASTM A240, ASTM A276 and EN 1.4547.

Application scope and processing of 1.4547 stainless steel plate
Petrochemical industry: Applicable to equipment, storage tanks, pipelines and other components.
Marine engineering: Can be used for offshore platforms and surrounding equipment to resist seawater corrosion.
Pharmaceutical industry: Under strict hygiene and chemical stability requirements, the corrosion resistance of S31254 makes it an ideal material for liquid medicine transportation.
Food processing industry: Meets relevant hygiene standards and is suitable for food processing equipment.

In terms of processing, S31254 stainless steel medium and thick plates have good weldability and machinability, and are suitable for various processing techniques, including milling, drilling, etc. However, during the welding process, attention should be paid to selecting appropriate welding wire and welding parameters to avoid the degradation of material properties.
