EN 1.4006 stainless steel.pdf

EN 1.4006 is a stainless steel grade in the European standard (EN), corresponding to the German standard X12Cr13. It is a martensitic stainless steel primarily composed of approximately 0.12% carbon (C) and 13% chromium (Cr). This grade offers high strength, hardness, and wear resistance. Its mechanical properties can be further enhanced through heat treatment. It also provides a certain level of corrosion resistance-superior to carbon steel but inferior to austenitic stainless steels.

EN 1.4006 is commonly used for components requiring both strength and moderate corrosion resistance, such as mechanical parts, cutting tools, valves, and pump shafts. It has good machinability, but welding requires caution, including preheating and post-weld heat treatment, to prevent cracking.
