What are the types of stainless steel?

Stainless steel is also known as stainless acid-resistant steel, which usually contains alloying elements such as nickel chromium molybdenum tungsten in metallurgy to be called stainless steel.

Common classification of stainless steel:

According to the state of organization:

Martensitic stainless steel, ferritic stainless steel, austenitic stainless steel and austenitic ferritic (duplex) stainless steel and precipitation hardening stainless steel.

According to the composition is divided into: chromium stainless steel, chromium nickel stainless steel and chromium manganese nitrogen stainless steel. According to its corrosion resistance: stainless steel (can resist corrosion in the air) and stainless acid-resistant steel (can resist corrosion in some chemical media).
According to the chemical composition can be divided into high chromium stainless steel (such as 4Cr13, Cr17, Cr28, Cr17Ti, etc.), chromium nickel stainless steel (such as 0Cr18Ni9Ti, Cr18Ni12Mo2Ti), chromium manganese nitrogen stainless steel (such as Cr17Mn13Mo2N).
Stainless steel grade group:
200 series: Chromium-nickel-manganese austenitic stainless steel
300 Series: Chromium-nickel austenitic stainless steel
400 Series: Ferritic and martensitic stainless steel
500 series: Heat-resistant chrome alloy steel
600 Series: Martensitic precipitation-hardened stainless steel

What are the types of stainless steel?

Common types and applications of stainless steel:
Austenitic stainless steel: has good corrosion resistance and excellent biocompatibility, but cannot be strengthened by heat treatment, and is non-magnetic. It is often used in chemical, Marine engineering, food, biomedical, petrochemical aircraft industry and so on. Among them, 304 stainless steel is the most common austenitic stainless steel, also known as 18/8 stainless steel in the industry, its metal products have high temperature resistance and good processing performance, so it is widely used in industrial and furniture decoration industries and food and medical industries.

Ferritic stainless steel: It has the characteristics of large thermal conductivity, small expansion coefficient, good oxidation resistance and excellent stress corrosion resistance. It is widely used in the manufacture of parts resistant to atmospheric, water vapor, water and oxidizing acid corrosion. In addition, its price is relatively low and stable, and it is often used in construction and automobile decoration.
