What is SUS409L stainless steel plate material?
Leave a message
SUS409L is a ferritic stainless steel. It is a low-chromium stainless steel material under Japanese standards. This stainless steel contains a low chromium content, usually between 10.5% and 11.7%, and also contains titanium to stabilize the material's structure. Due to its chemical composition and crystal structure, SUS409L exhibits good corrosion resistance and high-temperature oxidation resistance, although these properties may be slightly inferior to other high-grade stainless steels (such as 304 or 316).

SUS409L also exhibits good thermal stability and formability during processing, which makes it a material suitable for a variety of manufacturing processes.
Surface treatment
Pickling and polishing: In order to improve the appearance quality and finish, SUS409L can be pickled and polished. Pickling can remove the oxide scale and dirt on the surface, while polishing can further improve its surface finish.
Corrosion resistance:
SUS409L has basic corrosion resistance and is suitable for moderately corrosive environments.
Chloride corrosion resistance is low, and chlorine-containing environments require surface treatment to improve corrosion resistance.
High temperature resistance:
Can be used in environments below about 600°C and maintain good mechanical properties.
It has a certain degree of antioxidant capacity, especially during intermittent heating and cooling cycles.
Proper heat treatment can improve its antioxidant properties.
SUS409L stainless steel is widely used in the automotive industry, construction industry, home appliance industry, etc. due to its corrosion resistance and cost-effectiveness. 409L stainless steel also has environmentally friendly characteristics and is a recyclable material that helps reduce waste and environmental pollution.
