316L Stainless Steel Fabricated Components For Water Treatment Projects
Leave a message
As global demand for sustainable water infrastructure continues to grow, GNEE Stainless Steel has successfully delivered another batch of custom 316L stainless steel fabricated components for a large-scale water treatment project. This achievement demonstrates GNEE's comprehensive manufacturing capabilities in providing precision stainless steel fabrication solutions for municipal water treatment, seawater desalination, wastewater treatment, and environmental engineering applications.
Unlike conventional stainless steel fabrication, this project involved the production of complex non-standard (customized) chamber components manufactured from ASTM A240 316L stainless steel. With a chemical composition of 16–18% chromium (Cr), 10–14% nickel (Ni), 2–3% molybdenum (Mo), and a maximum carbon content of 0.03%, 316L stainless steel offers outstanding resistance to pitting corrosion, crevice corrosion, and intergranular corrosion after welding. These properties make it one of the preferred materials for water treatment equipment operating in corrosive environments.

Manufacturing these fabricated components presented several technical challenges. Due to its low carbon content and high ductility, 316L stainless steel is prone to work hardening during machining, which increases cutting forces and accelerates tool wear. In addition, the chamber assemblies featured multiple precision-bent sections and welded structures, requiring tight dimensional tolerances and high assembly accuracy to ensure reliable installation and long-term operational performance.
Water treatment equipment also demands exceptional weld integrity and internal cleanliness. Even minor dimensional deviations or welding defects can result in leakage, premature corrosion, or costly maintenance after installation.
To minimize these risks, GNEE implemented an integrated manufacturing process that includes CNC laser cutting, precision bending, CNC machining, TIG welding, dimensional inspection, pickling, passivation, and final quality verification. This one-stop production approach significantly reduces the dimensional deviations and quality inconsistencies that are often associated with multi-supplier manufacturing.
Comprehensive Quality Control
Every fabricated component undergoes rigorous quality control procedures before shipment, including:
Positive Material Identification (PMI)
Chemical composition analysis
Dimensional inspection
Visual weld inspection
Surface quality inspection
Pickling and passivation treatment
Final assembly verification
Upon customer request, GNEE can also provide EN 10204 3.1 Material Test Certificates (MTC) together with third-party inspection reports issued by SGS, BV, or TÜV, ensuring complete material traceability and compliance with international EPC project requirements.
One-Stop Stainless Steel Fabrication Solutions
With more than 18 years of export experience and customers in over 80 countries, GNEE provides comprehensive stainless steel fabrication solutions for industries including water treatment, chemical processing, power generation, food processing, pharmaceutical manufacturing, and marine engineering.
Our in-house manufacturing capabilities include laser cutting, CNC machining, plate rolling, precision bending, welding, polishing, pickling, passivation, and custom assembly, enabling customers to source complex stainless steel fabricated components from a single supplier.
