What is AISI 1.4016 2r stainless steel foil?
AISI 1.4016, also known as SUS430, is a popular ferritic stainless steel that is widely used in applications requiring good corrosion resistance, high strength, and magnetic properties. When processed into 2R (rolled and bright annealed) foil, this material becomes incredibly thin, flexible, and highly resistant to oxidation. Key Features of AISI 1.4016 2R Stainless Steel Foil
Grade and Composition: AISI 1.4016 is equivalent to ferritic stainless steel SUS430, containing approximately 16–18% chromium and very low carbon content (≤0.08%). It is nickel-free and exhibits good oxidation resistance at room temperature, while being less expensive than austenitic stainless steel.
2R Surface Treatment (BA – Bright Annealing): 1.4016 stainless steel foil is annealed in a controlled atmosphere after cold rolling, resulting in a bright surface with a mirror or semi-gloss finish (Ra ≈0.1–0.2 µm), making it ideal for applications requiring reflectivity, aesthetics, and ease of cleaning.
Ultra-thin Dimensions: The typical thickness range for 1.4016 ultra-thin sheets is 0.01 mm to 0.2 mm, with excellent flatness and tight dimensional tolerances (±0.005 mm for thin gauges), facilitating use in deep drawing, stamping, or cladding processes.
Corrosion Resistance: 1.4016 stainless steel foil performs well in indoor air, freshwater, and food environments; its corrosion resistance is weaker in high-chloride media or strong oxidizing acids, but sufficient for applications in household appliances, electronic components, and decorative coatings
