AISI 17-4PH Solution Heat-treated Tube
Leave a message
As a leading supplier in the industry, GNEE's 17-4PH solution-hardened stainless steel pipes comply with stringent international standards such as ASTM A564, AMS 5643, and ASME SA564. Utilizing a process of "electric arc furnace + vacuum refining (VOD/AOD) + cold drawing/cold rolling + precision solution heat treatment," we ensure a uniform microstructure and eliminate ferrite segregation. Suitable for pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and turbine components.
In the solution-treated (Condition A) state, the hardness of 17-4PH precipitation-hardening stainless steel pipes is typically controlled below 38 HRC. The tensile strength can reach 1000 MPa, and the yield strength can reach 900 MPa, ensuring excellent subsequent machining and cold drawing performance, facilitating complex bending or machining for customers.

We specialize in controlling the wall thickness of 17-4PH stainless steel round tubes, with an outer diameter deviation of ±0.05mm and wall thickness tolerance within ±5%. We are particularly skilled in producing ultra-thin-walled (0.5mm and up) or thick-walled high-pressure tubes. We can provide seamless tubes with single-piece lengths exceeding 12 meters, effectively reducing the number of welds and improving the overall pressure rating of the system. These tubes maintain excellent tensile strength and creep resistance even at temperatures up to 315°C (600°F), but are not recommended for long-term use in freezing environments.

17-4 condition A vs H900
17-4 PH A temper (annealed) is a soft, ductile, and easily machinable state (hardness < 35 HRC), used for pre-machining of complex parts. Conversely, H900 temper (aged at 900°F for 1 hour) is the final high-strength, high-hardness state (35-44 HRC), offering the highest strength and yield strength (1100-1200 MPa), but with lower toughness.
Quality Inspection
We provide comprehensive quality assurance to ensure that every pipe meets ASTM A564 and the customer's specific technical requirements:
Chemical Composition Analysis: 100% material verification using a spectrometer to ensure accurate proportions of alloying elements such as chromium, nickel, copper, and niobium.
Mechanical Property Testing:
Hardness Testing: Ensuring a hardness ≤ 38 HRC in the solution-treated state to guarantee material toughness and subsequent machinability.
Tensile Testing: Testing tensile strength, yield strength, and elongation.
Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) – Our Core Strength:
Eddy Current Testing (ET): Detecting surface and near-surface cracks and porosity in pipes.
Ultrasonic Testing (UT): For high-pressure, thick-walled pipes, detecting internal defects and wall thickness uniformity.
Hydrostatic Testing: Verifying sealing and pressure-bearing capacity under high-pressure conditions.
Dimensioning and surface inspection: High-precision micrometers and inside diameter measuring tools are used to ensure that the wall thickness tolerance is controlled within ±5%, and the surface roughness (RA) is inspected.

Production and Delivery Time
**In Stock:** For standard specifications (outer diameter 6mm-114mm) of 17-4PH solution-treated tubing, we maintain a large stock of semi-finished raw tubing. Cutting to length, finishing, and final inspection can be completed within 7-10 days before shipment.
**Custom Production:** For extra-long tubing (over 12 meters), special wall thicknesses, or special tolerance requirements, the production cycle is typically 4-6 weeks (including vacuum refining and multiple cold rolling processes).
Packaging & Protection
To protect 17-4PH tubing (especially 12-meter long tubing and ultra-thin wall tubing), we employ multiple protective measures:
End Protection:All pipe ends are fitted with plastic end caps to prevent dust ingress and protect the inner wall.
Surface Wrapping:Each tubing can be fitted with a plastic sleeve or wrapped with knitted tape upon request to prevent scratches during transportation.
Packaging:Sea-worthy Wooden Case: Sealed in fumigation-free wooden cases with reinforced internal components to prevent bending and deformation of long pipes.
Bundling: Thickened steel strapping is used for binding thick-walled, large-diameter pipes, with protective padding on the contact surfaces.
Marking: Each package includes a detailed packing list and an EN 10204 3.1 Material Certificate (MTC) to ensure traceability.
