AISI 304H 2B Stainless Steel Sheet

What Is AISI 304H 2B Stainless Steel Sheet?

AISI 304H 2B stainless steel sheet is a high-carbon version of the 304 grade (carbon content between 0.04% and 0.10%), specifically designed for enhanced high-temperature strength, improved creep resistance, and long-term stability in environments above 500–800°C. It is less expensive than 316H or 321 in many industries, and its 2B cold-rolled surface is smooth and flat. It is widely used in heat exchangers, boiler components, petrochemical equipment, furnaces, and pressure vessels.

Is 304H suitable for high-temperature boilers?

Yes, 304H is suitable for high-temperature boilers because its higher carbon content gives it greater strength at high temperatures (up to approximately 800°C). This makes it ideal for high-temperature applications such as industrial boilers, heat exchangers, and steam piping.

What is the difference between 304H and 304?

The main difference lies in the carbon content: 304 has a maximum carbon content of 0.08%, while 304H has a higher carbon content, ranging from 0.04% to 0.10%. Due to its higher carbon content, 304H stainless steel is well-suited for high-temperature applications. 304 is a standard grade suitable for general purposes, while 304H is specifically designed for high-temperature environments.

What is the difference in heat resistance between 304H and 321 stainless steel?

Due to the addition of titanium, 321 stainless steel has better heat resistance than 304H. Titanium stabilizes the alloy and prevents carbide precipitation at high temperatures. Therefore, 321 stainless steel is better suited for applications that are continuously exposed to temperatures up to 1650°F (900°C), while the maximum heat resistance of 304H is approximately 1472°F (800°C).

Price of AISI 304H 2B Stainless Steel Sheet (Today)

Market reference only-subject to daily raw-material changes.

Today's price range of AISI 304H 2B sheet is approximately USD 2,400–2,750 per ton, depending on thickness, coil origin, and surface quality.

Thicker plates (6–12 mm) typically cost 8–12% higher due to rolling difficulty.
