what is ASTM A276?
ASTM A276 is a standard specification by ASTM International that defines the requirements for stainless steel bars and shapes, including those that are hot-finished or cold-finished, and in various forms like rounds, squares, hexagons, and other shapes.
ASTM A276 Gr 420 Round Bar is a high-strength, martensitic stainless steel bar that offers good corrosion resistance and hardness, suitable for general engineering applications and components requiring these properties. It is a versatile material with a high chromium content (at least 12%) and can be heat-treated to achieve maximum hardness and strength, but its corrosion resistance is somewhat limited compared to austenitic grades. Common applications include knife blades, surgical instruments, and hand tools.

ASTM A276 TP420 stainless steel round bar in temper A is annealed, temper B is severely cold worked, temper H is quenched and tempered, and temper T is high temperature quenched and tempered. Temper S is strain hardened and lightly cold worked.
