How are stainless steel pipes classified?
Stainless steel pipes are divided into ordinary carbon steel pipes, high-quality carbon structural steel pipes, alloy structural pipes, alloy steel pipes, bearing steel pipes, stainless steel pipes, as well as bimetal composite pipes, plated and coated pipes to save precious metals and meet special requirements. There are many types and uses of stainless steel pipes, as well as different technical requirements and production methods. The outer diameter range of currently produced steel pipes is 0.1-450mm, and the wall thickness range is 0.01-250mm. In order to distinguish their characteristics, steel pipes are usually classified according to the following methods.
Production Method
Stainless steel pipes are divided into two categories: seamless pipes and welded pipes according to production methods. Seamless steel pipes can also be divided into hot-rolled pipes, cold-rolled pipes, cold-drawn pipes, extruded pipes, etc. Cold drawn and cold rolled pipes are secondary processing of steel pipes; welded pipes are divided into straight seam welded pipes and spiral welded pipes.
Cross-sectional shape
Stainless steel pipes can be divided into round pipes and special-shaped pipes according to their cross-sectional shapes. Special-shaped tubes include rectangular tubes, rhombus tubes, oval tubes, hexagonal tubes, octagonal tubes and asymmetric tubes with various cross-sections. Special-shaped tubes are widely used in various structural parts, tools, and mechanical components. Compared with circular tubes, special-shaped tubes generally have a larger moment of inertia and section modulus, and have greater bending and torsion resistance, which can greatly reduce the structural weight and save steel.

Stainless steel pipes can be divided into equal-section pipes and variable-section pipes according to their longitudinal shape. Variable cross-section tubes include tapered tubes, stepped tubes, periodic cross-section tubes, etc.
Pipe end shape
Stainless steel pipes can be divided into plain pipes and threaded pipes (threaded steel pipes) according to the state of the pipe end. Automobile threaded pipes can also be divided into ordinary automobile threaded pipes (low-pressure pipes for transporting water, gas, etc., connected with ordinary cylindrical or conical pipe threads) and special threaded pipes (pipes for petroleum, geological drilling, and important automobile pipes). Threaded pipes are used in special threaded connection). For some special pipes, in order to compensate for the impact of threads on the strength of the pipe end, the pipe end is usually thickened (internal thickening, external thickening or internal and external thickening) before threading.
Usage classification
According to use, it can be divided into oil well pipes (casing, oil pipes, drill pipes, etc.), pipeline pipes, boiler pipes, mechanical structural pipes, hydraulic support pipes, gas cylinder pipes, geological pipes, chemical pipes (high-pressure fertilizer pipes, petroleum cracking pipes) , ship management.
