How To Calculate The Weight Of 304 Stainless Steel Checkered Plate
304 stainless steel checkered plates are widely used in construction, anti-slip flooring, transportation, and industrial platforms due to their corrosion resistance, durability, and textured surface. Understanding how to calculate the weight of these plates is essential for accurate cost estimation, transportation planning, and structural design.
Formula to Calculate the Weight of 304 Stainless Steel Checkered Plate
The general formula to calculate the theoretical weight of a stainless steel plate is:
Weight (kg) = Length (mm) × Width (mm) × Thickness (mm) × Density (g/cm³) ÷ 1,000,000
For 304 stainless steel, the density is approximately 7.93 g/cm³.
However, for checkered plates, due to the raised pattern, we need to add approximately 1.5mm extra thickness to account for the embossed texture.
🔹 Standard embossed thickness compensation: ~1.5mm
Example Calculation
Suppose you have a 304 checkered plate with dimensions:
Length: 2000 mm
Width: 1000 mm
Nominal thickness: 3 mm
Pattern compensation: +1.5 mm
Effective thickness: 4.5 mm
Weight = 2000 × 1000 × 4.5 × 7.93 ÷ 1,000,000 = 71.37 kg
So, the approximate weight is 71.37 kg per sheet.
Weight per Square Meter (m²) for SS 304 Checkered PlateThicknesses
| Thickness (mm) | Approx. Weight (kg/m²) |
|---|---|
| 2.0 (embossed 3.5mm) | 27.76 kg |
| 3.0 (embossed 4.5mm) | 35.69 kg |
| 4.0 (embossed 5.5mm) | 43.63 kg |
| 5.0 (embossed 6.5mm) | 51.56 kg |
