Monel 401, known as UNS N04401, is a nickel-copper alloy used in electronic and electrical applications. The alloy has a low temperature coefficient of resistance and medium potential resistivity.
Not only that, but this alloy has the ability to be soldered using GTAW (tungsten arc welding) or resistance welding. Monel Alloy 401 is available in wire form primarily for use in bimetallic contacts or precision resistors (wirewound).
Similar to commercially pure nickel metal, Monel Alloy 401 has low strength under annealed conditions and can be processed up to 120 KSI.
Main characteristics:
- Tempering: Monel 401 alloys have cold rolled properties to accommodate different tempering.
- Corrosion Resistance: The corrosion resistance of Monel 401 is similar to that of Monel 400.
- Heat Treatable: This specialty alloy cannot be hardened by heat treatment.
- Weldability: Monel 401 has amazing weldability at low temperatures.
