Service Temperature Note
316L is normally rated for continuous service up to about 425°C. Short-term intermittent exposure to higher temperatures (up to 870°C) may be permissible under specific design codes, but long-duration service in the 425–870°C range carries a sensitisation risk and should be reviewed by the project engineer. For cryogenic applications down to -196°C, confirm that impact testing per the applicable code has been performed.
