253MA Furnace Tube, 253MA High Temperature Stainless Steel Pipe, 253MA Pipe Supplier
253MA (UNS S30815, 1.4835) Cold-Drawn Seamless Pipe/Tube is a rare-earth element (REE) micro-alloyed, heat-resistant austenitic stainless steel pipe specifically engineered and manufactured for industrial furnaces, heat exchangers, and high-temperature flue gas ducting.
Every batch of 253MA cold-drawn seamless pipe supplied by GNEE is accompanied by a Material Test Certificate (MTC) fully compliant with the EN 10204 3.1 standard. Fabricated via a cold-drawing process, the SS 253MA tubing features a strictly controlled outer diameter (OD) tolerance within ±0.10 mm, a wall thickness (WT) tolerance within ±10%, and a wall eccentricity tightly limited to under 8%. This high-precision geometry ensures uniform stress distribution during elevated-temperature service. Prior to dispatch, 100% of the pipes must undergo rigorous inspection, including visual examination, dimensional verification, eddy current testing (ECT), and hydrostatic testing.

All 253MA seamless pipes undergo solution annealing at 1050–1140°C followed by rapid quenching. This thermal processing eliminates residual stresses from cold working and allows full dissolution of carbides, thereby stabilizing the austenitic microstructure. The grain size is strictly controlled within ASTM 1–5 (in accordance with ASTM E112). At service temperatures above 850°C, the creep rupture strength of 253MA is typically 20% to 30% higher than that of standard Grade 310S stainless steel. Furthermore, after a 1000-hour exposure at 1000°C, its weight gain is a mere 0.15–0.3 g/m²·h, demonstrating an oxidation resistance that is five times superior to that of Grade 304 stainless steel.

253MA vs 310S Stainless Steel Pipe
When comparing 253MA and 310S stainless steel pipes for high-temperature applications, 253MA offers advantages in mechanical strength and creep resistance, whereas 310S performs better in highly corrosive or reducing environments. 253MA provides excellent resistance to cyclic oxidation at temperatures up to 2000°F (1150°C), while 310S offers superior resistance to continuous high-temperature exposure at temperatures up to 2000°F (1150°C).
What is the difference between 253MA and 309?
Both 253MA and 309 are heat-resistant austenitic stainless steels; 253MA maintains excellent oxidation resistance at temperatures up to 2,000°F (1,093°C) and exhibits outstanding dimensional stability at high temperatures. Grade 309 is typically recommended for continuous service temperatures up to 1,900°F (1,038°C) and is particularly well-suited for applications involving repeated or intermittent thermal cycling.
253MA Heat Resistant Stainless Steel Pipe Application
Industrial furnaces: Used for radiant tubes, thermocouple protection tubes, muffle furnaces, and retorts.
Petrochemicals and refining: Cracking tubes, catalyst support tubes, and flare tips.
Power generation: Used in heat exchangers, coal gasifiers, and boiler components.
Iron and steel processing: Used for blast furnace components and continuous casting rolls.
Cement industry: Applications include clinker cooler tubes and rotary kiln components.

253MA Pipe Price Per Kg
The price of 253MA stainless steel pipe typically ranges from $2.50 to $18.00 USD per kilogram. This wide variance depends directly on the manufacturing method (seamless vs. welded), wall thickness, order volume, and current global raw material surcharges.

Marking & Packing
SS 253MA pipes are bundled using nylon straps to prevent iron contamination and wrapped in three layers of waterproof, UV-resistant plastic film; heavy-duty PE end caps are fitted to ensure internal cleanliness. For export shipments, we use IPPC-certified fumigated plywood crates lined with high-density foam padding to ensure the pipe surfaces remain free from abrasions. Each package bears a weather-resistant label indicating the heat number, grade (UNS S30815), and size specifications.

FAQ
Q: What filler metal should be used for welding 253MA pipes?
A: To maintain the high-temperature properties and oxidation resistance of the base metal, it is critical to use matching 253MA (UNS S30815) filler materials. Using standard 309 or 310 fillers will result in a joint with inferior creep strength and lower oxidation limits.
Q: Does 253MA require post-weld heat treatment (PWHT)?
A: Generally, no. 253MA is typically used in the solution-annealed condition. Post-weld heat treatment is usually unnecessary unless specified for stress relief in extremely thick-walled sections or specific corrosive environments.
Q: Can 253MA pipes be used in pressure vessel applications?
A: Yes, 253MA is included in several pressure vessel codes (such as ASME BPVC Section VIII). Its high allowable stress values at elevated temperatures make it an excellent choice for high-pressure heat exchangers and boiler components.
