TA1 (Gr1) titanium is the first of four industrially pure titanium grades. It is the softest and most malleable of these grades. It offers maximum formability, excellent corrosion resistance and high impact toughness. Due to all these qualities, grade TA1 is the material of choice for any application requiring ease of formability and is often used as titanium plate and titanium tubing.
Titanium Gr1 has very good weldability. Basically a single-phase material, the microstructure of the alpha phase is not very affected by heat treatment or welding temperature. Therefore, the mechanical properties of a properly welded joint equal or exceed those of the base metal and show good ductility.
