What is  en1.4541 material ?

1.4541 is an austenitic stainless steel, also known as Alloy 321, BS 321S31, BS 321S51, and X6CrNiTi18-10. This material is a V2A type steel, stabilized by the addition of titanium. It is a non-magnetic material (non-magnetic μr < 1.3) with a maximum service temperature of 550 °C. 1.4541 stainless steel has a tensile strength of 500 to 700 N/mm², a hardness ≤ 215, and a density of 7.9 kg/dm³, making it suitable for cold forming and cold heading. This material is widely used in the automotive, mechanical engineering, and chemical industries.

Corrosion resistance

Stainless steel 321 is equivalent to grade 304 in the annealed condition. It has superior corrosion resistance if a weldment in these grades has not been post-weld annealed, or if the application involves service in the 425-9000C range,321alloy is subject to pitting and crevice corrosion in warm chloride environments and to stress corrosion cracking above 600C.

 

Heat resistance

Stainless steel 321 has good oxidation resistance in intermittent service to 9000C and in continuous service up to 9250C. This grade performs well in the 425-9000C range and particularly where subsequent aqueous conditions are present.

 

What is the difference between 1.4541 and 1.4301?
1.4541 is titanium-stabilized, making it more resistant to carbide precipitation during welding and high-temperature service, whereas 1.4301 lacks this stabilization and may become sensitive to corrosion when exposed to temperatures above 425°C.

 

What is the difference between 1.4541 and 1.4571 materials?

The main difference is that 1.4571 (AISI 316Ti) is more corrosion-resistant than 1.4541 (AISI 321) because it contains molybdenum, while 1.4541 does not. This makes 1.4571 more suitable for use in highly corrosive, chloride-rich environments (such as chemical processing).
