Gnee Stainless Steel is one of the most reputable manufacturers and suppliers of 17-4 PH / 1.4542 stainless steel pipes in China. We sincerely invite you to purchase high-quality 17-4 PH / 1.4542 stainless steel pipes directly from our factory. With abundant stock available, we ensure prompt supply at any time. We are committed to delivering excellent service and highly competitive pricing.
The 17-4 PH pipes we supply feature precise chemical composition control (C ≤ 0.07%, Cr 15.0–17.5%, Ni 3.0–5.0%, Cu 3.0–5.0%, Nb+Ta 0.15–0.45%). These pipes exhibit outstanding corrosion resistance, superior to standard martensitic stainless steels, especially in environments containing mild acids, alkalis, and chlorides. In addition, through aging heat treatments such as H900, H1025, or H1150, their mechanical properties can be flexibly adjusted, achieving tensile strength in the range of 930–1310 MPa.

Our 17-4 PH seamless pipes offer extremely high dimensional accuracy, with outer diameter tolerance controlled within ±0.03 mm and wall thickness tolerance within ±0.02 mm. The product specifications cover outer diameters from 6 mm to 219 mm and wall thicknesses from 1.0 mm to 20 mm. We provide fixed lengths ranging from 3000 mm to 6000 mm and also offer customized cutting services according to customer requirements. All products undergo solution annealing, non-destructive testing, and pickling & passivation surface treatment, and are supplied with EN 10204 3.1 Mill Test Certificates (MTC).

Can 17-4 PH stainless steel tubing be welded?
Yes, it possesses excellent weldability and can be welded using standard methods such as Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (TIG/GTAW) or Gas Metal Arc Welding (MIG/GMAW). Unlike many martensitic stainless steels, it typically does not require preheating. However, to achieve strength levels equivalent to the base metal, post-weld heat treatment (PWHT)-typically an aging treatment-is required.
Is 17-4 PH stainless steel magnetic?
Yes. 17-4 PH is a martensitic stainless steel, which means it is strongly magnetic in all conditions (both solution-annealed and aged).
What is the maximum service temperature for 17-4 PH?
Continuous service at temperatures exceeding 600°F (316°C) is not recommended. Prolonged exposure to elevated temperatures can lead to a significant reduction in toughness and result in embrittlement.
Lead Time
The lead time for 17-4 PH is typically longer than that for standard 304/316 grades, primarily due to the heat treatment process involved.
Stock Items: 3 – 7 business days. This timeframe covers inspection, repackaging, and outbound processing.
New Production: 4 – 6 weeks. This includes piercing, cold drawing/cold rolling, and solution treatment.

Inspection & Testing
Chemical Analysis: PMI (Spectroscopic Analysis)
Tensile Testing: Measures Yield Strength and Tensile Strength (Rm).
Ultrasonic Testing (UT): Inspects the interior of the pipe wall for cracks, slag inclusions, or porosity.
Eddy Current Testing (ET): Used to detect surface and near-surface defects.
Hydrostatic Testing (Hydro): Ensures the pipe remains leak-free under high pressure (typically in accordance with ASTM A530 standards).

Packaging & Protection
All pipe ends are fitted with plastic caps to prevent the ingress of dust or debris and to protect beveled ends.
Individual Packaging: Each pipe is enclosed in a protective plastic sleeve.
Bundle Wrapping: After bundling, the pipes are wrapped in woven bags or waterproof tarpaulins.
Bundling is secured using steel or nylon straps, with cardboard or rubber padding placed at the strapping points to prevent indentation.
Wooden Case Packaging: For thin-walled pipes, high-precision pipes, or air freight shipments, export-standard, fumigation-free wooden cases are mandatory.
