201 / J3 / J4 Stainless Steel Coil Test Certificate

Our cold-rolled 201 / J3 / J4 stainless steel coils are widely used in home appliances, kitchenware, elevators, and decorative applications. Compared with standard 201 grades, our J3 and J4 materials are optimized with controlled copper (Cu) content of 1.5%–2.0%, which significantly improves deep drawing performance, ductility, and crack resistance during forming processes. This makes the material highly suitable for high-speed automated production lines requiring stable stamping performance.

 201 stainless steel coil

The 201 stainless steel coil offers excellent formability, making it easy to stamp, bend, and weld without cracking, which is ideal for automated manufacturing environments. We implement strict dimensional control standards, with a thickness range of 0.1–3.0 mm (tolerance ±0.02 mm) and a width range of 10–2000 mm (tolerance ±0.1 mm), ensuring high consistency in mass production. The surface quality reaches 2B/BA finish with roughness Ra ≤ 0.3 μm, free from scratches, oxide scale, or other surface defects, effectively reducing downstream processing costs and improving final product appearance.

What are the main differences between 201 J3 and 201 J4?

The primary difference lies in the copper (Cu) content. J4 has a higher copper content (1.5%–2.0%); consequently, it is softer in texture and exhibits excellent deep-drawing properties. J3 has a moderate copper content (0.4%–0.8%), making it better suited for shallow drawing, general bending, and structural decorative applications.

Is 201 J3/J4 magnetic?

In the annealed state (as produced at the mill), they are non-magnetic or very weakly magnetic. However, like all 200-series steels, they are prone to "transformation" during cold working. After being cold-rolled, bent, or drawn, they will show significant magnetism.

How can cracking be prevented when processing 201 J3?

Since the ductility of J3 is lower than that of J4, you should: avoid excessively small bending radii; use appropriate lubricants during the stamping process; and ensure that the material is sourced from a reputable steel mill and has undergone uniform annealing (to prevent the occurrence of "hard spots").

201 / J3 / J4 Stainless Steel Coil Supplier

Gnee maintains long-term agreements with major industry leaders such as LISCO, TSINGSHAN/CHENGDE, and HONGWANG. Materials sourced from these top-tier mills feature superior chemical stability and a low work-hardening rate. Tailoring to specific customer applications, Gnee coordinates with the steel mills to customize annealing processes, thereby supplying materials with a diverse range of hardness levels (HV) and elongation rates.

Gnee is equipped with high-precision slitting machinery capable of processing wide coils into narrow strips. With a tolerance held within +/-0.05mm and clean, burr-free edges, these strips are ideally suited for use in automated tube welding machines or stamping lines.
We also provide precision cut-to-length services to relieve internal stresses within the coiled material, ensuring the resulting sheets are exceptionally flat.

For deep-drawing applications involving J4-grade steel, we offer highly resilient and easily removable protective films-specifically Laser PVC or a double-layer black-and-white protective film-to effectively prevent surface scratches during processing.

Sea-worthy Packing:

201 / J3 / J4 stainless steel coils

Our packaging employs a multi-layer protective system: an inner layer of waterproof paper, a middle layer of plastic film, an outer casing of sheet metal, reinforced corner guards, and sturdy wooden or steel pallets. This robust packaging ensures that the material remains dry and rust-free, even after enduring a 45-day ocean voyage.
