What Is Aluminized Steel?
Aluminized steel is carbon steel coated with a layer of aluminum-silicon alloy. It provides surface corrosion protection and high thermal reflectivity, but the underlying steel is not stainless and may corrode if the coating is damaged.

409 stainless steel prefabricated pipes have better resistance to thermal deformation and thermal fatigue, are independent of surface coatings, will not corrode even if discolored, and are reliable in welding and forming processes during exhaust pipe manufacturing. Although aluminized steel is inexpensive, it is more suitable for shorter service life, lower temperature or non-structural parts, such as muffler housings and heat shields.
