What is AISI 310 stainless steel?
310 grade is a medium-carbon austenitic stainless steel suitable for high-temperature applications, such as furnace components and heat treatment equipment. Its continuous operating temperature can reach 1150°C, and its intermittent operating temperature can reach 1035°C. 310S grade is a low-carbon version of 310. It is less prone to embrittlement and sensitization during use and is widely used in medium carburizing atmospheres, such as those common in petrochemical environments. For more demanding carburizing atmospheres, other heat-resistant alloys should be selected.
What is 310S material equivalent to?
310S material is equivalent to other commonly used grades, including UNS S31008, EN 1.4845, and JIS SUS310S. These are all names of the same high-temperature austenitic stainless steel, which has excellent oxidation and scaling resistance at high temperatures (typically up to 1050 degrees Celsius).
What is the chemical composition of 310S?
310S grade is a steel comprising of low concentration of carbon. Stainless steel 310S alloy is made of 25% chromium and 20% nickel that make it widely resistant to oxidation and corrosion. The nominal carbon magnitude makes it less inclined to embrittlement and sensitization while in use.

What is the difference between 310 and 310S?
310 plate contains no more than 0.25% carbon while 310S contains at most 0.08% carbon. 310H stainless steel is comprised of between 0.04% and 0.1% carbon. 310, 310S and 310H stainless steel plate all contain 2.0% manganese, 0.045% phosphorous and 0.30% sulfur.

Heat Treatment of Grade 310/310S Stainless Steel
Heat Treatment Type 310/310S are solution annealed by heating to temperature range 1040 -1065°C, holding at temperature until thoroughly soaked, then water quenching.
Heat Resistance of Grade 310/310S Stainless Steel
Grades 310/310S have good resistance to oxidation in intermittent service in air up to 1035°Cand 1050°Cin continuous service. The grades are resistant to oxidation, sulphidation and carburisation.
What is the difference between 310 SS and 309 SS?
Stainless Steel 309: It is suitable for high-temperature applications, but not as high as Stainless Steel 310. It has a maximum operating temperature of around 980°C (1800°F). Stainless Steel 310: It is specifically designed for high-temperature applications and can withstand temperatures up to 1150°C (2102°F).
