ASTM A268 TP405 Stainless Steel Seamless Tube for General Service
Leave a message
Why are more and more engineering projects choosing ASTM A268 TP405 stainless steel seamless tubes instead of conventional ferritic or austenitic materials? The answer ultimately lies in long-term performance stability-reducing operational risks while achieving longer service life at a lower overall cost.
Our ASTM A268 TP405 Stainless Steel Seamless Tube is specifically designed for general service applications, offering excellent corrosion resistance, oxidation resistance, and reliable processing stability. All tubes are supplied in the annealed condition, ensuring uniform microstructure and consistent performance. In addition, pickling and passivation or mechanical polishing processes are applied to guarantee clean internal and external surfaces, free from cracks, folds, and inclusions, with controlled roughness to meet high cleanliness and fluid transportation requirements.
TP405 is a low-carbon ferritic stainless steel with a chemical composition of Cr 11.5–14.5% and C ≤ 0.08%, stabilized with elements such as aluminum (Al) to effectively reduce the risk of intergranular corrosion. In terms of hardness control, through precise solution treatment and annealing processes, the hardness of TP405 stainless steel round tubes is maintained at ≤ HRB 90, ensuring good cold workability and weldability while preventing cracking during on-site fabrication.

Regarding dimensional accuracy, all products are manufactured in strict accordance with ASTM A268 standards, with outer diameter tolerance controlled within ±0.5% and wall thickness tolerance within ±10%, meeting the requirements of heat exchangers, structural applications, and pressure systems. In terms of corrosion resistance, TP405 stainless steel tubes perform reliably in mildly corrosive environments such as water, steam, and certain chemical media. They also exhibit excellent oxidation resistance, capable of long-term service at temperatures up to approximately 650°C without significant scaling or spalling.

Lead Time
In Stock: 3–7 Days. Requires only re-inspection, cutting, pickling and lubrication, or repackaging.
New Production: 30–45 Days. For TP405 tube billets; requires cold drawing/cold rolling, heat treatment (annealing), straightening, inspection, and pickling.
Custom Production / Billet Shortage: 60–90 Days. Requires the re-smelting and forging of tube billets directly from the steel mill; this significantly extends the lead time.
