ASTM A312 TP304L stainless steel thick-walled seamless pipe
Leave a message
ASTM A312 TP304L is a stainless steel pipe specification made from a low-carbon version of the widely used 304 austenitic stainless steel. The lower carbon content improves weldability and resistance to intergranular corrosion. It is available in seamless, welded, and electric resistance welded (ERW) forms, suitable for a variety of applications ranging from low-pressure pipelines to high-temperature systems.
GNEE offers high-quality ASTM A312 TP304L seamless pipes, which are made from ultra-low carbon austenitic stainless steel (carbon content ≤ 0.03%), superior to standard TP304. TP304/TP304L seamless pipes are manufactured using cold drawing or hot rolling processes, without welding at any stage of production. Welded pipes are manufactured using automatic welding processes without the addition of filler metal. Pipes are available with plain ends, beveled ends, or threaded ends conforming to ASME B1.20.1.

ASTM A312 TP304L stainless steel round pipes are available in a wide range of sizes, with outside diameters ranging from 6.0 mm to 610 mm (1/4 inch to 24 inches) and wall thicknesses ranging from 0.5 mm to 25.4 mm (1/50 inch to 1 inch). Customized sizes are available to meet the design requirements of various industrial piping systems, including large diameter, thin-walled, and thick-walled pipes.
Before shipment, TP304L steel pipes must undergo hydrostatic testing to verify their overall strength and leak-tightness, ensuring they will not leak or rupture under working pressure. Eddy current testing can also be used as an alternative to hydrostatic testing upon request. Ultrasonic testing or radiographic testing can be selected if other tests are required by the customer.

What is the difference between TP304 and TP304L?
The main difference between TP304 and TP304L stainless steel is carbon content: TP304L ("L" for Low) has a maximum of 0.03% carbon, significantly less than TP304's 0.08% maximum, which makes TP304L better for welding as it resists intergranular corrosion (weld decay) without needing post-weld annealing, though TP304 offers slightly higher strength.
Heat Treatment:
A312 TP 304L seamless steel pipes are typically supplied in the annealed condition, which improves their ductility and formability. However, further heat treatment processes, such as solution annealing or stress relieving, can be performed depending on specific requirements.
ASTM A312 TP304L Stainless Steel Seamless Pipe Application
A312 TP 304L seamless steel pipes are widely used in numerous industries such as oil and gas, chemical, food and beverage, pharmaceutical, and pulp and paper. They are commonly used for transporting fluids, gases, and slurries in high-pressure and high-temperature environments.
