The TP310 stainless steel pipes we supply are made of high-chromium-nickel austenitic heat-resistant steel, featuring a chromium content of 24.0%–26.0% and a nickel content of 19.0%–22.0%. Its continuous service antioxidant temperature reaches up to 1,035°C, with a short-term ultimate temperature resistance up to 1,150°C. At high temperatures, it forms a dense and stable protective oxide layer that effectively resists high-temperature scaling, carburization, and sulfur-bearing flue gas thermal corrosion. Furthermore, its tensile strength remains at approximately 400 MPa even at 600°C, making it ideal for industrial furnaces, heat treatment lines, and high-temperature flues.

TP310 vs. TP310S: How to Choose?

When working conditions involve welded structures, long-term operation within the sensitization temperature range of 650–900°C, or higher requirements for intergranular corrosion resistance, TP310S stainless steel pipe is highly recommended. As a low-carbon modified grade, 310S controls the carbon content to ≤0.08%, which significantly reduces the risk of carbide precipitation during welding and long-term high-temperature service. It is perfectly suited for heat exchangers, flue gas treatment equipment, incinerators, and high-temperature piping systems requiring extensive welding.

FAQ

Can TP310 be used in cryogenic environments, such as with liquid nitrogen?
Yes. TP310 stainless steel has an austenitic structure, offering excellent toughness and extremely low magnetic permeability even at very low temperatures (cryogenic conditions). Its low-temperature performance is actually superior to that of Grade 304.

 

Is it difficult to weld TP310 SCH 40 pipe?
TP310 has good weldability, but due to its high alloy content, the following points require attention:
Risk of hot cracking: Weld seams are prone to hot cracking, so interpass temperature must be strictly controlled.
Recommended welding consumables: Use matching ER310 welding wire or E310 welding electrodes.

 

Why is TP310 so much more expensive than 304?
It is primarily due to its very high nickel (Ni) and chromium (Cr) content. Grade 304 contains approximately 8% nickel, whereas Grade 310 contains 19–22% (almost 2.5 times that of 304). Nickel and chromium are expensive metals that directly determine raw material costs.
