What is SUS316Ti stainless steel?
SUS316Ti stainless steel is a titanium-stabilized austenitic stainless steel, designed to deliver enhanced corrosion resistance and high-temperature stability, especially in welded and long-term heat-exposed applications.
Available in sheets, coils, and tubes, SUS316Ti is widely used in chemical processing, power generation, heat exchangers, and industrial equipment, where reliability and service life are critical.
What are the advantages of SUS316Ti stainless steel?
The titanium stabilization treatment in SUS316Ti stainless steel prevents intergranular corrosion, offers excellent corrosion resistance in oxidizing and weakly reducing environments, maintains good mechanical properties at high temperatures, and provides excellent weldability without the need for post-weld heat treatment. With a long service life and low maintenance costs, SUS316Ti is a reliable upgrade and alternative to traditional 316L stainless steel in high-temperature or heavy-duty welded structures.
SUS316Ti stainless steel Heat Treatment & Processing
Solution Annealing: 1010°C to 1150°C, followed by rapid cooling (water or air).
Stabilization Treatment: 850°C to 900°C (Optional, to ensure Ti combines with C).
Weldability: Excellent. Unlike 316, SUS316Ti does not require post-weld annealing to prevent corrosion in the Heat Affected Zone (HAZ).
Machinability: Moderate (similar to 316). Use of chip breakers and high-quality lubricants is recommended.

What is the difference between SS 316 and SS 316Ti?
The primary difference between SS 316 and SS 316Ti lies in their chemical composition and specific applications. Here's a breakdown: Chemical Composition: SS 316Ti includes titanium (0.4–0.7%), which stabilizes the steel and prevents chromium carbide formation.
What are the main differences between SUS316L and SUS316Ti?
SUS316L prevents intergranular corrosion by lowering its carbon content (≤0.03%), whereas SUS316Ti achieves this through the addition of titanium, which forms titanium carbide. 316Ti is better suited for applications involving prolonged exposure to high temperatures (550°C–800°C), while 316L offers advantages in terms of corrosion resistance at standard temperatures and welding performance for thin sheets.
Is SUS316Ti magnetic?
Like most austenitic stainless steels, SUS316Ti is non-magnetic in the annealed condition. However, it may become slightly magnetic after cold working (bending, drawing) due to the formation of martensite.
What is the maximum service temperature for SUS316Ti?
In terms of oxidation resistance, it can handle up to 870°C (1600°F). However, its mechanical strength and resistance to intergranular corrosion are most effective in the 425°C to 815°C range.
