Leave a message
What is the material of JIS G4304?
JIS G4304 specifies the technical requirements for hot-rolled stainless steel plates, sheets, and strips. The standard covers chromium-based and chromium-nickel-based stainless steel grades widely used for general applications and pressure vessels.
SUS436L hot-rolled stainless steel plate is a low-carbon ferritic stainless steel stabilized with Niobium (Nb). Compliant with standards such as JIS G4304 and ASTM A240, it is primarily used in the manufacture of automotive exhaust systems, heat exchangers, industrial furnace components, structural parts for home appliances, and corrosion-resistant industrial equipment.
JIS G4304 SUS436L SS Sheet Supplier in China
As a professional stainless steel supplier, GNEE offers SUS436L hot-rolled plates in common thicknesses ranging from 3 mm to 100 mm and widths of 1500–2000 mm. We provide customized services including cutting, leveling, grinding, and surface finishing. We ensure that every batch of material meets the requirements of JIS, ASTM, and EN standards and provide EN 10204 3.1 Material Test Certificates (MTC).

Our SUS436L stainless steel plates are produced via a hot-rolling process at high temperatures (1100–1200°C) to ensure a uniform internal microstructure. The material features a Chromium (Cr) content of approximately 16–19%, Carbon (C) ≤ 0.025%, and Molybdenum (Mo) content of 0.75–1.25%. Compared to Grade 430 stainless steel, it boasts a PREN (Pitting Resistance Equivalent Number) of approximately 18–22, offers about 40% better resistance to chloride-ion corrosion, and demonstrates significantly superior resistance to stress corrosion cracking compared to 304 austenitic steel; it also passes 200-hour salt spray tests without showing red rust.
In automotive exhaust system applications, pickled SUS436L stainless steel plates withstand long-term thermal cycling environments of approximately 700–900°C while maintaining excellent dimensional stability. Typical mechanical properties include a yield strength of ≥205 MPa, tensile strength of ≥415 MPa, and elongation of ≥22%; the material withstands 180° cold bending without cracking, meeting the demands of complex stamping, bending, and welding processes. Its low-carbon design (C ≤ 0.025%) ensures superior corrosion resistance in the weld heat-affected zone compared to standard ferritic stainless steels, thereby reducing the risk of cracking and corrosion during the long-term operation of automotive exhaust pipes, boiler components, and industrial equipment.

What is the difference between SUS436L and SUS430?
The main difference between SUS436L and SUS430 lies in their high-temperature stability. SUS436L contains approximately 0.75–1.25% Mo and Nb stabilizing elements, which allows it to maintain better oxidation resistance and thermal fatigue resistance under cyclic heating conditions of approximately 800–900℃. In contrast, SUS430 is more prone to grain coarsening and thermal deformation under long-term high-temperature use, making it more suitable for low-temperature and general corrosion-resistant applications.
What is the difference between SUS436L and SUS304?
SUS304 contains approximately 18% Cr and 8% Ni, with a PREN value of approximately 18–20, exhibiting better overall corrosion resistance. While SUS436L is a ferritic steel, the addition of approximately 1% Mo increases its PREN value to approximately 18–22, providing superior resistance to pitting and hot corrosion in high-temperature corrosive environments such as chlorine-containing environments and automotive exhaust systems.

Lead Time
Lead times depend on inventory status and processing requirements:
In-stock items: Typically 3–7 business days. This time is primarily required for specification verification, repackaging, and logistics arrangements.
Mill production/Custom orders: Typically 30–60 days.
Slitting/Leveling: If processing coils into cut-to-length sheets is required, please allow an additional 2–4 days beyond the standard lead time for in-stock items.
Quality Inspection
To ensure materials meet standards (such as JIS G4304 or ASTM A240), the following inspections are typically required:
Mechanical property testing: Tensile test, hardness test, and bend test.
Dimensional and surface inspection: Measuring thickness, width, length, and flatness using micrometers and tape measures;
visual inspection for residual hot-rolling scale, pickling stains, indentations, or scratches.
Intergranular corrosion test: To verify the stabilization effect of Ti/Nb.
PMI (Positive Material Identification): On-site spot checks using a handheld spectrometer to prevent material mix-ups.

High-quality packaging
GNEE has over 18 years of experience exporting stainless steel, with products supplied to more than 60 countries and regions; we offer trade terms such as FOB, CIF, and DDP tailored to customer requirements.
SUS436L is an industrial-grade sheet product; packaging must provide protection against moisture, rust, and deformation:
Base: Wooden pallets or steel skids (iron racks) are used as the foundation.
Protection: Waterproof paper (kraft paper) is wrapped around the bundle, with metal edge protectors applied to the exterior.
Strapping: High-strength steel straps are used for both horizontal and vertical securing to prevent the sheets from shifting during transport.
Marking: Each bundle or sheet bears a label indicating the steel grade (SUS436L), heat number, batch number, dimensions, weight, and manufacturer.
