The difference between stainless steel pipe 304 and 904l

1. Different performance:

304 is austenitic stainless steel, which is the most commonly used stainless steel, and the national standard grade is 06Cr19Ni10. 904 is a martensitic stainless steel, and the national standard grade is 1Cr12.
2. Different hardness:

304 has better corrosion resistance and toughness than 904, while 904 is a hardenable stainless steel with a higher hardness after quenching.
3. Different content:

304 stainless steel contains about 8% nickel, while 403 does not contain nickel.
904L stainless steel pipe is a completely austenitic structure. Compared with austenitic stainless steel with a high molybdenum content, 904L is not sensitive to the precipitation of ferrite and α phase.
304 stainless steel pipe is a general-purpose stainless steel, which is widely used in the manufacture of equipment and parts that require good comprehensive performance (corrosion resistance and formability). In order to maintain the inherent corrosion resistance of stainless steel, the steel must contain more than 18% chromium and more than 8% nickel.
4. Application fields
304 stainless steel seamless pipe:
Widely used in food, medical, chemical, construction, household goods and other fields.
904L stainless steel seamless pipe:
Mainly used in chemical, petroleum, marine engineering and other fields, especially in environments requiring high corrosion resistance and high temperature resistance.
5. Price
904L stainless steel:
Due to its special composition and excellent performance, the price is usually higher than 304 stainless steel.
