What are the benefits of solution treatment of stainless steel?

The process of stainless steel solution treatment includes the following steps:
‌ Heating ‌: Heat the stainless steel to 1050-1100℃ to dissolve all carbides in austenite.
‌ Heat preservation ‌: Keep at high temperature for a period of time to ensure that the carbides are fully dissolved.
‌ Cooling ‌: Through rapid cooling (such as water quenching), the single-phase austenite structure is retained to room temperature.

Advantages and performance changes of solution treatment‌:
‌Hardness change‌: After solution treatment, the hardness may be reduced to a certain extent, making it easier for subsequent processing operations such as cutting.
However, if the parameters are not properly controlled, the hardness change may not meet expectations.
‌Improved toughness‌: Solution treatment can improve the toughness of stainless steel, reduce defects such as segregation, and make it more resistant to crack generation and expansion when subjected to external forces.
‌Enhanced corrosion resistance‌: Solution treatment makes the oxide film on the surface of steel more complete and dense, reducing the possibility of corrosion micro-batteries, thereby improving the corrosion resistance of the material.
‌Improved processing performance‌: Solution treatment reduces hardness and makes the structure uniform, reduces cutting force, improves cutting efficiency and surface quality; during forming processing, the material has better plastic deformation ability and reduces the possibility of rupture.
